Custom Website Design
There is nothing more satisfying for me than designing an original and unique website that reflects the needs of its owner. When building a website I work with as much input as possible and solicit feedback throughout the entire process to produce a finished, complete and satisfying end product. Additionally, I use tried and true best practices to make sure website visitors enjoy their experience and are able to accomplish their goals.
XHTML and CSS
Using clean HTML and CSS is fundamental to building a website that works correctly. By following best practices I make sure that websites will load quickly, be accessible by search engines and supported across a variety of browsers.
Content Management Systems
If you intend to update your website on a regular basis or have more then a handful of pages you will want to have a Content Management System (CMS). The two that I recommend and work with are ExpressionEngine and Wordpress. The former is extremely flexible, powerful and great for building a site from scratch. The later is more straightforward, user friendly and also free. If we come to conclude that you need a CMS I'll help you decide what you need and how to deploy it.
SEO - Search Engine Optimization
Search engine optimization is more then a bunch of voodoo and buzz words hustled by consultants. It's a mindset and collection of strategies that make it easier for the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing) to understand your website. Regardless of what I am working on I always take into consideration how search engines will perceive it. Don't worry, this isn't something I charge extra for, I just do it.
Website Statistics and Analytics
Understanding website statistics and thoroughly analyzing them can provide valuable insight into who is visiting your website and what they want out of that experience. My favorite tool to perform this kind of work is Google Analytics and their Website Optimizer. When the right questions are applied to these tools they tell us what is working and what isn't.
Email Campaigns
Regardless of the growth of facebook, myspace and twitter, email marketing is still the most effective way to keep in touch with your clients. In fact, According to Pew Internet and American Life Project data as of April, 2009, 90% of US Internet users have gone online and sent or read email. Furthermore, the study found that 57% do this as part of a typical day. I understand the challenge of designing, marketing and implementing an effective email campaign that drives your audience to action. Let me help you.
Social Media Marketing
Social networking and media have seen exponential growth in the last few years and their reach is now far and wide. I see a number of businesses having trouble understanding how they can be an active participant in these communities. I can help explain the landscape and help you find your voice so you can connect with your audience.
